What is "Push-To-Talk"?

Push-To-Talk is a system where mobile phone users can perform walkie-talkie like instant communications with each other. The connections are one-way (half-duplex), and are typically announced on the receiving device with a beep of some sort. The concept was made popular by Nextel and its iDEN network.
