The Media Transfer Protocol is a system devised by Microsoft that allows for the synchronization of media files between a personal computer and a device such as a cell phone or MP3 player. MTP is supported by many devices and applications today, including Windows Mobile smartphones, many Sony Ericsson mobile phones, and applications such as Windows Media Player and Winamp.
