LightSquared is a network service provider that plans to deploy a terrestrial 4G LTE network using satellite spectrum. LightSquared's network has yet to be launched due to interference concerns with GPS devices, since the company's spectrum holdings are very close to the spectrum that is used for precision GPS services. As of late 2011, the Federal Communications Commission has yet to approve LightSquared's network for commercial deployment. Sprint and a number of other companies have made deals with LightSquared to make use of its forthcoming network, despite the fact that it has not yet launched.
