Our online glossary is here to help you make sense of the terminology used in the cell phone industry. It covers mobile technologies, such as 3G and 4G, and even includes a bit of information on smartphone operating systems and the companies that make the cell phones and other mobile technology devices we all use.
High Tech Computer Corporation, known almost universally by the acronym HTC, is a Taiwan based designer and manufacturer of smartphone devices. The company generally creates a base design, gives it a "codename", such as Hermes, and then offers the devices to be sold rebranded by other companies, such as i-mate, or networks, such as T-Mobile or Orange. In 2006 HTC started offering devices in some markets under their own HTC brand. The company has long used its own Dopod house brand to sell devices directly in Asia.
