What is "Firefox OS"?

Developed by Mozilla, Firefox OS is an open source mobile operating system released in 2012 for mobile devices and Smart TV. Its simplicity means it is ideal for budget smartphones, while it is unique in the fact it is designed to run HTML5 applications with direct access to the device's hardware using JavaScript.

During December, 2015, Mozilla said it would stop selling Firefox OS smartphones through carriers.
