What is "Android 6.0 Marshmallow"?

Android 6.0 Marshmallow is the newest (at time of writing) version of Google?s open source Android mobile operating system, it arrived October 5, 2015. While Android 4.4 KitKat and Android 5.0 Lollipop both brought huge changes to the platform, Marshmallow focuses on improving those major updates with more subtle, albeit important changes. Google Now is accessible via voice control, Doze Mode has been introduced, and there is now support for native stock Android fingerprint scanners. There are other minor updates such as Demo Mode, USB Type-C support, and an application search bar.
