Samsung could be readying new smartphone UI... goodbye TouchWiz?
By Luke Jones on Saturday October 11, 2014

You may think that as the biggest Android vendor, Samsung is the voice of the platform and shows us exactly what Android is all about. However, that is not actually the case because most Android fans dislike Samsung's TouchWiz Android UI, while others outright hate it. Even some Samsung fans admit it has its considerable flaws.

HTC's RE fails to capture the imagination
By Luke Jones on Thursday October 09, 2014

HTC did not just roll out a new smartphone yesterday, the company also released the RE, a brand new asthma inhaler, I mean toilet pipe, I mean a periscope, I mean camera. Yes, the phallic design of HTC's new camera is hardly in keeping with the company's solid reputation with aesthetics, and that's coming from a fan of HTC hardware. So, what does this camera offer that other point and shoot, actions cams, or even smartphones do not?

HTC explains lack of smartwatch in 2014
By Luke Jones on Wednesday October 08, 2014

HTC was widely rumoured to be entering the wearable market this year, so much so that renders of the company's smartwatch leaked online and the device was reportedly ready to roll out in September. It is widely thought that the device was on the verge of being rolled out, but HTC pulled the plug at the last moment and decided to scrap wearable plans.

LG G Watch R rolling out October 14th
By Luke Jones on Wednesday October 08, 2014

LG's G Watch R caused quite a stir when it was first unveiled. This was a smartwatch that also had a round face, a competitor to Motorola's impressive Moto 360 perhaps and possibly the best smartwatch ever made. However, the reality was somewhat different as the G Watch R is a little bit of a compromise; good looking yes, but certainly not the definitive smartwatch release.

Motorola Moto 360 available in the UK
By Luke Jones on Friday October 03, 2014

Motorola's new Moto 360 smartwatch is making its way across the Atlantic and is landing in the UK, available on the O2 network in the country. The wearable comes to the country with a price tag of 199.99 and is an exclusive to O2, or at least that is the situation at the moment. However, the way the 360 has been selling in the US suggests that the device will sell out quick in UK just like it has in the US, where it sold out in double time.

Moto 360 back in stock
By Luke Jones on Wednesday October 01, 2014

When Motorola launched the Moto 360 at the start of last month it was very well received. The device may not answer all the questions for smartwatch functionality, but it gets most of them right in terms of design. The wearable promptly sold out of inventory within days, even though Motorola has yet to launch the version with a stainless steel strap.

Pebble cuts prices of smartwatches by $50
By Luke Jones on Tuesday September 30, 2014

When the Pebble smartwatch launched it was one of the only devices of its kind in town, and it was quickly on its way to record breaking Kickstarter backing. However, the smartwatch world has got a lot more crowded of late with most major mobile brands throwing their weight into the wearable market. Pebble's little unit seems a little archaic next to those new machines, even if the rivals are hardly functional powerhouses themselves. The company's response has been to slash the prices of its devices while also adding a new update.

By Luke Jones on Monday September 29, 2014

Before ASUS launched its first smartwatch at IFA earlier this month there was a thought that the company would deliver something significantly cheaper than other wearable devices of this kind. As it was, ASUS instead released the premium ZenWatch and passed the responsibility onto another manufacturer to offer the affordable choice. The smartwatch for everyone is now here in the form of the upcoming Tommy smartwatch.

Samsung confirms Gear S for all major carriers this fall
By Luke Jones on Wednesday September 24, 2014

Samsung's smartwatch line up is getting plenty confusing. There are now six Galaxy Gear wearable products available and the company is rolling out the latest, the Gear S, during this fall. If you are not sure which smartwatch the Gear S is then let me explain that it's the one the company launched at IFA a few weeks ago, the one that allows the user to make and receive calls without a smartphone connection.
