Sony Announces Xperia X Performance with Snapdragon 820 SoC

Sony has stunned us at MWC and launched a flagship quality smartphone. Japanese company first unveiled the Xperia X, a fetching high end device that stopped short of full flagship, but the following Xperia X Performance is near as makes no difference a full flagship.

We were not expecting much from Sony at the Mobile World Conference, and while the company didn't launch a new flagship, it did arrive with three rather enticing products. The Xperia X is among them, and it is looking like continuing Sony's recent quality output in the mid-range market. Hopefully this can buck another Sony trend, the one where its quality smartphones fail to sell in great numbers, but we?ll wait and see on that front.

Nokia Biding Time for Ideal Return to Smartphone Market

Nokia has been out of the smartphone game for over two years, since it sold off its Lumia devices and services division to Microsoft. As part of the deal the Finnish giant could not make a rival device until this year, but with that accord coming to an end Nokia is ready to make handsets again. The company's CEO used an MWC press event to say the company wants to make a new smartphone, but is in no rush.

Alcatel Raises Curtain on POP 4, POP 4+, POP 4S

Alcatel is working closely with Microsoft and Windows 10 these days, but the company has not turned its back on the Android platform though. Indeed, at the Mobile World Conference in Barcelona there are three new Alcatel devices running the Android software, the POP 4, POP 4+, and POP 4S. As you can probably tell by the names, these are all variants of the same handset.

Lenovo Has Three New Tablets to Check Out

Lenovo rolled out a couple of new smartphones at MWC, but the Chinese company also has a few tablets to show up at the trade show in Barcelona. The company says two of the slates are for families, while the third is oriented towards the business minded. The tablets in question are TAB3 7, TAB3 8, and the TAB3 10.

LG G5 Blitzes Benchmarks

As well being an innovative device, the LG G5 is also an complete performance beast too and is showcasing the full might of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820. The previous Snapdragon 810 was a misstep for the chip manufacturer, but the 820 is a beast and it has powered the LG G5 to a record score on AnTuTu.

Ouch! We knew it would be expensive, but HTC has just revealed that the Vive VR headset will cost a massive $799 when it launches to consumers on February 29, open to pre-orders.

HTC announced the One X9 smartphone, and while it is not the flagship we all want, it is a step in the right direction and an improvement on the One A9, from which it is based. MobileBurn was hugely critical of the One A9 of course, from its lazy design to insulting price, we did not like the handset a great deal.

The Desire 530, Desire 630, and Desire 825 are aimed at younger smartphone owners with their funky looks, but actually we think they represent more of the same from HTC, and that?s a problem.

Samsung Gear 360 VR Camera Unveiled

Samsung may have been focused on the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge smartphones at MWC this week, but the Korean company also found time to launch another product. The item in question is the Gear 360, a camera that allows users to take 360 degree images and videos, following a similar product launched by LG this week, the 360 VR.
