By Josh Dasey on Wednesday October 28, 2015

Sony may be struggling in the smartphone market (despite launching excellent devices), but the company is thriving in one other mobile area. We are talking about mobile image sensors of course, where Sony enjoys a dominant market share and supplied camera tech to many of its smartphone rivals. Indeed, the company is doing so well in this area that it re-strategized to make image sensors its primary focus moving forward.

By Josh Dasey on Friday October 23, 2015

Sony has been rumored to be exiting the smartphone business for the last two years, but the company keeps knocking those reports down. We can't decide whether there is no smoke without fire or whether the reports are unfounded and Sony is really not even considering ditching its Xperia brand. Either way, the Japanese giant has come out and denied once again the latest rumor that said 2016 will be the company's last in the smartphone industry if sales do not pick up.

By Luke Jones on Tuesday September 15, 2015

After treading water for several years, Sony decided to do some innovating and at IFA earlier this month the company launched the Xperia Z5 Premium. That handset was the first to arrive with a 4K screen that boasts a stunning 2160 x 3840 resolution and 800+ ppi. To put that in perspective, the nearest rival is the Samsung Galaxy S6 with a 577ppi pixel density.

Sony giving away $120 Headphones with Xperia Z5 Compact Pre-orders in Europe
By Luke Jones on Monday September 14, 2015

Sony often tries to sweeten the deal of its flagships in Europe. Indeed, if you shop around you could find the Xperia Z3 when it launched vastly below its flagship list price, and we expect the situation to be the same again with the Xperia Z5 (not the Premium though). The Xperia Z5 Compact will also be sold with an incentive in the Old Continent, namely a free pair of MDR-10RC headphones.

Sony impressed us yesterday with its new flagship range, the Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact, and the Xperia Z5 Premium that is the first smartphone with a 4K screen. All handsets are very good in their own way, but how much will they cost and when will they be available? Sony has now revealed the cost.

By Luke Jones on Wednesday September 02, 2015

While Sony has impressed with Xperia Z5 Premium and the normal Xperia Z flagships are always good, it is arguably Sony?s Compact range that is most interesting. This series of devices is Sony's answer to the mini flagship trend, except that the Xperia Z5 Compact and its predecessors are full flagship quality and not some watered down rips offs (here's looking at you LG, Samsung, and HTC).
