Lumia 1030 Dead, Long Live the Lumia 1040?

Last month we discussed the Microsoft Lumia 1030, a sequel to Nokia's camera-centric Lumia 1020 from a couple of years ago. The handset was once again set to feature arguably the best camera module in the industry and was due to launch later in the year, presumably with Windows 10 Mobile in tow. However, it now seems as though the device has been killed.

Acer Liquid M220 is Now Available in the United States

Acer is back on Microsoft's Windows Phone platform after the company launched the Liquid M220 smartphone today, the device was announced back in March. As we have become used to, the handset is a modest device that runs Windows Phone 8.1, but arguably the most interesting thing is that Acer confirmed the Liquid M220 will be upgradeable to Windows 10 Mobile when the software lands this fall.

Verizon Offering Microsoft Lumia 735 from Today

Verizon has announced that it will begin carrying the Microsoft Lumia 735, with the U.S. based carrier selling the smartphone from today onwards. That means that Big Red is the only carrier in the United States to be offering Microsoft mid-range device that used to be called the Nokia Lumia 735 before Microsoft rebranded it.

Microsoft is continuing to flesh out its plans for Windows 10, with the company confirming today that there will be seven different SKUs of the platform. Of course, our primary concern is the mobile oriented version, which will be ushered in later in the year as a replacement for Windows Phone 8. It has been assumed that either Windows Phone 10 or just Windows 10 would be used for the name, but it will actually be called Windows 10 Mobile Microsoft announced.
