HTC said that it would be delivering more of its Sense software to the general Android market, moving some of its services away from being an all-in-one software. The company started the HTC Creative Labs team to focus on repacking certain software from the brand's UI so that it could be downloaded in app form on the Google Play Store. HTC, the Taiwanese mobile phone giant, has had a tough time of things recently, with profits on the wane despite a number of fine hardware products available from the company. The HTC One M8 has been getting the bump to Android 4.4.3 over the last month, with handset variants all over the world receiving the update. In The US AT&T, T-Mobile , and Sprint have sorted out their updates, but in typical fashion Verizon is running late to the party. Big Red inexplicably delayed the roll out last month, but has now at least confirmed that Android 4.4.3 will arrive on its HTC One M8 variant on September 10th (tomorrow).

HTC did not have a lot to say at IFA this year; while rival companies launched smartphones and smartwatches, the Taiwanese company only had the Desire 820 to show off. So what about its smartwatch? HTC has been rumoured to be launching a wearable this year and IFA could have been the platform for the release. However, it now seems as though the HTC smartwatch will not arrive at all, at least not any time soon.

HTC may be continuing to struggle, but it is getting increasingly difficult to blame the company's hardware (or lack thereof) for the decline. Last year there simply were not enough HTC devices at various price tiers in key markets, but that's a different story now. The Taiwanese giant launched its latest here at IFA today in the shapely form of the Desire 820, a sequel to the 816 launched earlier this year.
