Asus has updated its flagship smartphone line with the launch of the ZenFone 2 Deluxe at IFA in Berlin today. The Taiwanese company unveiled the device for the press after launching the new ZenWatch 2 wearable at the trade expo. While the specs of the new Deluxe remained unchanged against the ZenFone 2 launched earlier in the year, the new handset does come with a bold and different design.

Only the Apple Watch enjoyed more hype than Motorola's original Moto 360, so much is expected from the sequel to what was the round faced wearable of choice for many. For the most part the 360 (2015) and the Sport succeed on building on the original, but they are also hampered by the same pitfalls as all smartwatches.

That panel can be found on the Xperia Z5 Premium, the new ultra-flagship that is a step above the normal Xperia Z5, which was also announced at the event.

ASUS ZenWatch 2 is an Affordable Step Above Original

While more and more companies are making smartwatches with round faces, such as Samsung's Gear S2 that arrived this week, ASUS has decided to stick with a rectangular design for its ZenWatch 2. The wearable was revealed by the company during its IFA live event, and considering the original ZenWatch was aesthetically pleasing, we are not entirely disappointed to see rectangle faces come back.
