Acer is back on Microsoft's Windows Phone platform after the company launched the Liquid M220 smartphone today, the device was announced back in March. As we have become used to, the handset is a modest device that runs Windows Phone 8.1, but arguably the most interesting thing is that Acer confirmed the Liquid M220 will be upgradeable to Windows 10 Mobile when the software lands this fall.
Acer kicked off the Mobile World Conference here in Barcelona by unveiling a new Windows Phone, but as is familiar with Microsoft's platform, the device will now blow you away. The Acer Liquid M220 is yet another handset that will fall into the seemingly endless stream of mid-range and entry level Windows Phone. Any hopes that platform would get a flagship beyond the HTC One M8 should be shelved for some time (probably until Windows 10 lands).
Acer's quest to join the smartphone elite will continue at the Mobile World Conference (MWC) in Barcelona next week when the Taiwanese company launches new handsets. There are reports that the company will debut a new Windows Phone smartphone, while the familiar Android toting Liquid series will also get some new additions. On top of that, Acer is also set to showcase its new wearable device.
