Barnes & Noble NOOK Video brings streaming movies and TV shows to Android and iOS

Barnes & Noble today made its NOOK Video service available on more than just its own NOOK Tablet and NOOK Color devices. Now Apple iPhones, iPads, and Android phones or tablets will be able to stream movies and TV shows from its app.

Barnes & Noble will lower the price of two of its NOOK devices this week. Beginning November 4, Barnes & Noble will sell its NOOK Tablet for $159 and its NOOK Color for $139. The NOOK devices, which normally cost $199 and $149 respectively, are being dropped to their lowest ever prices as part of a promotion for the holiday shopping season. Customers will be able to visit Barnes & Noble retail locations in the U.S. or NOOK.com to purchase either device. The NOOK Tablet will cost $159 for its 8GB model and $179 for the 16GB version.

Barnes & Noble has said that it will sell its NOOK Simple Touch and NOOK Simple Touch GlowLight ereaders n the UK by mid-October, but the retailer has begun accepting pre-orders for both devices. UK residents can spend 79 to reserve a NOOK Simple Touch or 109 for the NOOK Simple Touch GlowLight at any of the following retailers: John Lewis, Argos, Sainsbury's, Dixons, Waitrose, Blackwell's and Foyles. Barnes & Noble has announced three new retail partners for the U.K. launch of its NOOK products. The American retailer named Argos, Blackwell's, and Foyles as stores where customers will be able to buy the NOOK Simple Touch or NOOK Simple Touch with GlowLight beginning in October. The success of Barnes & Noble's Nook products have largely been because of the bookseller's large retail presence in the U.S., so partnerships with existing sellers will allow the company to sell its NOOK line in more than 760 locations in the U.K. The deal also calls for Blackwell's to sell Barnes & Noble's digital products.

Barnes & Noble will begin selling its NOOK reading devices in the United Kingdom this fall. The company announced plans to launch its E Ink readers, including the NOOK Simple Touch and NOOK Simple Touch with Glowlight, in the UK by mid-October. Barnes & Noble has not revealed prices or when it will sell the NOOK Tablet, but the Android-based tablet will also go on sale, according to promotional images posted to its website. In addition to reading devices in the UK, Barnes & Noble will begin selling books, newspapers, magazines, comics, and apps in its NOOK Store later this year.

Barnes & Noble cuts up to $50 off Nook tablets

Barnes & Noble has cut the price of its Nook Tablet and Nook Color devices. The Nook Tablet now costs $179 for the 8GB model, and $199 for the 16GB model. Barnes & Noble also dropped the price of the Nook Color, a digital reading device with tablet features, to $149.
