Google instant search for mobile "coming soon"
Today Google announced a new search feature for desktop browsers that begins to search as you type. The feature, for example, begins to show "MobileBurn" as you type "mobileb," on Google's homepage. It's a faster way to search, and Google noted today that it will launch this feature on mobile devices, likely those with WebKit browsers such as Android or Apple iOS, this fall.

Nokia N8 smartphone hits U.S. late September for $549
Nokia's U.S. website now indicates pricing and a ship date for its flagship smartphone, the N8. The smartphone offers a large 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen with a 640 x 360 resolution, a 12 megapixel camera, GPS, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, FM radio, and more. Apple iPad sales could surpass 28M in 2011, analysts predict
USB analyst Maynard Um has raised his firm's predictions for Apple iPad sales during 2011. Um believes Apple could sell as many as 28 million units during 2011, and believes that its sales could impact notebooks PC sales, but not necessarily Apple's own notebooks. "We see a limited threat from competition and raise our calendar 2011 iPad unit forecasts to 28 million, which we believe could still be conservative." Samsung recently announced Galaxy Tab Android tablet in Berlin, Germany which will also retail in the United States this year.

MasterCard launched a BlackBerry application for its MoneySend service today. MoneySend, similar to PayPal, now lets Blackberry users pay from or request payment to their MoneySend accounts. More

T-Mobile USA BlackBerry Curve 3G 9300 smartphone now available
The T-Mobile USA BlackBerry Curve 3G 9300 is now available. The phone is very similar to the BlackBerry Curve 8520, but offers 3G connectivity and GPS support in addition to WiFi. It will also run the new BlackBerry 6 operating system. The Curve 3G costs $79.99, $50 more than the 8520, with a 2-year contract. It's available in graphite gray and smoky violet. BlackBerry App World now home to over 10,000 apps
RIM, via its Twitter account, has officially announced that its BlackBerry App World application store front is now home to over 10,000 applications. While that's a milestone, it's still a far cry from the 250,000 applications available in the Apple iTunes App Store, and the over 70,000 applications available for Android smartphones.

Tapas and Wonderpod Android projects launched by former Google China exec
Kau-Fu Lee, the former Google China president, has launched two new projects of his own in China. One is an operating system based upon Android, dubbed Tapas, that will launch in the coming weeks on new handsets. The second is a media distribution platform for Android smartphones that has already made its debut. More

Nokia N8 Symbian^3 smartphone U.K. preorders begin today
Preorders for the N8, Nokia's latest flagship smartphone, began on Nokia's U.K. web store today. The device offers a 12 megapixel camera with LED flash, a large 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen with a 640 x 360 resolution, an FM radio, GPS, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, and more. T-Mobile offering Samsung Vibrant Android smartphone buy-one-get-one special
In a statement detailing its new Kids Are Free family talk plans, T-Mobile USA also revealed that its Samsung Vibrant, an Android powered Galaxy S smartphone, is now available as part of a buy-one-get-one-free promotion. Customers who purchase a Samsung Vibrant will receive a second Vibrant for free after a $50 mail-in-rebate and with another two-year service agreement. T-Mobile USA intros Kids Are Free family plans
Today T-Mobile introduced its new Kids Are Free family plans. Under the new terms, existing and new T-Mobile customers who sign up for a new family plan between now and November 2, 2010 won't have to pay the monthly additional line fee on up to three additional lines of their family plan until 2012. That means lines 3-5 are free until 2012, and they share the pooled family talk minutes.
