HTC says it will start rolling out Android 6.0 Marshmallow for the T-Mobile variant of the One M8 on Jan. 25th, what is expected to be the last major Android update that the handset gets. The One M8 was released way back in March 2014 and is nearing two years old, the traditional life cycle of a high end smartphone where it can expect major Android build updates. HTC for example always sticks to this cycle, such as with the original One (M7) which got Android 5.0 Lollipop last year as its final major upgrade. The January 25th update of the HTC One M8 was confirmed by Mo Versi, the company's VP of Product Management and the man who always takes to twitter to confirm such things. The all-metal device that was ahead of the curve in terms of design can expect all the new goodies that come with Android 6.0 Marshmallow. That includes Google Now on Tap, Doze mode, and a change to app permissions. Of course, HTC prepping the update for January 25th is one thing, but T-Mobile turning it around and pushing out to users is another. The carrier is typically good at rolling out updates quickly after receiving them from manufacturers, so we could be looking at Android 6.0 on the T-Mobile One M8 by the end of this month.
