The European variant of the HTC One M8 is going to be receiving Android 6.0 Marshmallow in the next two weeks according to ROM developer @LlabTooFeR, a source with a hugely credible track record. The 2014 flagship will also be getting something on top in the form of HTC's Sense 7.0 UI, which has so far been reserved to handsets the company has launched in 2015.This is likely to be the last major build of Android that the One M8 will receive as the handset will be past its two year support cycle by the time Android N (Nutmeg?) is launched. HTC promised that the M8 and indeed other high end flagship smartphones in its portfolio would be updated to Marshmallow within three months of Google?s OS landing. The deadline to meet that promise would be mid-January, so if the One M8 does land Android 6.0 in the next few weeks then HTC will be well within its self-imposed deadline. Last year the One M8 received Lollipop in January, again within HTC?s 90 day promise, although some variants of the then flagship had to wait until February. At the moment LlabTooFeR is only stating the European variant of the One M8 is in line for Android 6.0 in the coming weeks, so HTC might be doing another staged roll out.
