Samsung's Gear S2 is its first round faced wearable and Samsung is attempting to boost its prospects through the holiday season with a sweeping and extensive update. The smartwatch will be competing against the likes of the Apple Watch, Moto 360, and Huawei Watch this Christmas, and with Apple likely to lead the pack Samsung is competing for best of the rest. There's nothing outright huge in the update, nothing that brings a new feature to the wearable party for example, but there are a lot of incremental little upgrades. Added into the mix is the ability to open any app automatically by stopping the rotation of the bezel. There is also a new notification indicator, and a new ability to enlarge a notification with a single tap. Also coming to the Samsung Gear S2 is a feature to select screen timeout lengths, and an alert that will notify you when you and stray too far away from any connected smartphone, a decent security feature we think. At the moment the update seems to be rolling out in Samsung's homeland of South Korea, but we imagine that other markets will follow in the coming days and weeks.
