Xiaomi has unveiled a new updated version of its Redmi 2A smartphone, making the huge selling device a boost for 2015. The regular Redmi 2A has been a monster hit for the Chinese company, selling over 10 million units worldwide, and becoming one of Xiaomi's best-selling smartphones.Of course, the great thing about the Redmi 2A is that it costs just $78USD, although for that entry level money you obviously get a modest spec sheet. The updated Redmi 2A aims to boost the hardware a little, making the device fall in line with the ethos of Xiaomi co-founder Lei Jun. The executive said that the optimum configuration for a smartphone should be at least 16GB of storage and 2GB of RAM. Casting a raised eyebrow over the current Redmi 2A, it is clear to see that the handset comes with 8GB of native storage and 1GB of RAM. Clearly the Chinese company has decided to practice what it preaches as the new Redmi 2A comes with... you guessed it, 16GB of storage and 2GB of RAM. The other specs remain the same, which means a 4.7-inch 720p screen, a 1.5GHz Leadcore LC1860 SoC, 8 megapixel primary camera, 2 megapixel front facing lens, and a 2200mAh battery. Also remaining the same is the price, so consumers get a better performing handset for no extra cost.
