While we are still awaiting HTC's Android 6.0 Marshmallow rollout for its handsets (aside for the One A9 that ships with the platform), the company's Google Play Edition One M8 is receiving the upgrade now. This marks the first HTC device already on the market to get the latest version of Google's OS, and it is an obvious choice. The Google Play Edition One M8 is the variant of the 2014 flagship that runs stock Android and is sold directly through Google. Its stock Android software means it is easily bumped to new builds because HTC does not have to do anything with the build. On other handsets, the company places its own Sense UI over the top, which takes more time to develop. HTC says you will need a Wi-Fi connection to grab this update over the air, with the file weighing in at 450MB, while you need to ensure you have at least 50% left on the battery.
