Sony's Smartphone Deal for James Bond did not Appeal to Star and Director, who wanted "the best"

The latest James Bond movie Spectre is currently tearing up the box office at multiplexes around the world, and during the movie many people will see 007 rocking a Sony Xperia Z4 smartphones. Samsung's products are also on board, both companies paying a lot of money to be branded in the movie. However, it seems as though the star and director of the movie had reservations about using Sony smartphones.

Daniel Craig, who plays James Bond and director Sam Mendes apparently both thought Sony should not be the super spy's smartphone of choice. Their reasoning? Well, according to a leaked email between production team and studio, the pair thought that Bond would only use the best, and Sony's smartphone is not the best.

Ouch. As it turns out, the reservations were not taken on board, and Craig for one should be thankful as he banked $5 million for advertising Sony, while the Japanese company provided $18 million overall to participate in the movie. Samsung apparently paid $50 million for its involvement, while the Korean juggernaut was also willing to stump up $5 million to Craig.

Craig and Mendes did not mention which handset they thought Bond should use, but for some reason we are leaning towards the iPhone. Because we think that is "the best" smartphone... no, instead it is the most marketable and the most well-known amongst the casual population.
