What is HTC doing? The company has just launched another high end smartphone a week after the One A9, and this not a fresh handset either, it is another One M9 variant for the Chinese market. We have truly lost count of how many M9 handsets there are, so much so that we are sure the E9 already exists. Quick research says it hasn't, but it really highlights how diluted HTC's flagship output had become, a sad time for the company.Despite being another One M9 variant, this actually has a lot going for it, if you compare it next to last week's apparent One A9 "flagship". For a start, the still fantastic design from the One M9 has been maintained for the One M9e, including metal finish and yes front facing BoomSound speaker grills. It looks better than the One A9. Under the hood it is a toned down One M9, coming with a 5-inch 1080p Full HD screen with a pixel density of 441ppi. Other specs include an eight core MediaTek MT6795 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of native storage, micro SD card expansion to 128GB, a 13 megapixel main camera, and a 4MP front facing lens with HTC's UltraPixel technology. HTC is charging high again however, with an asking price in China that is the equivalent of $425, still, we would prefer this over the One A9 just on looks alone.
