When we think of the several giant smartphone manufacturers in Taiwan, it is HTC that we see as the standout company, the one that has delivered the best smartphones on a consistent basis. However, in its homeland HTC is actually far from being the number one company in terms of value, with that honor going to ASUS.It is actually not that much of surprise as ASUS has a presence in other industries, whereas HTC is strictly a mobile brand. However, HTC's position in sixth (behind, Trend Micro, Want-Want, Acer, and Giant) is an eyebrow raiser, and in some ways shows how far the company has fallen in recent years on a global scale. Chipmaker MediaTek was in ninth.
