Samsung has officially announced its massive Galaxy View tablet today, arguably the biggest bona fide slate on the market. Perhaps highlighting the current decline in the tablet market, Samsung did not hold a major event for the product, letting out the news quietly.Samsung says the Galaxy View is the largest Android product on the market, although that may not last long as other companies are apparently going bigger in the coming month. Nevertheless, the View is huge, boasting a Full HD 18.4-inch screen. Under the hood there is Sammy's own Exynos 7520 processor, 2GB of RAM, a choice between 16GB or 32GB of storage, micro SD card expansion, a 2.1 megapixel front camera, stereo speakers, LTE connectivity, and Bluetooth 4.0. A 5700mAh battery means the Galaxy View is good for 8 hours of video playback. Samsung has yet to confirm price, but previous rumors say the Galaxy View will start at $599, which will be competitive against the Apple iPad Pro and Microsoft Surface Pro 4. The company also opted not to give a launch date for the View, although we would think it will arrive in time for the busy Holiday Season.
At Samsung, we are committed to creating new possibilities and bringing our consumers the best mobile experience. We are very excited to introduce the new Galaxy View, providing an entirely new way of consuming mobile video and entertainment."-JK Shin, CEO, Samsung
