You can color us surprised by the announcement by LG that its G4 smartphone flagship is going to be getting Android 6.0 Marshmallow next week. That is a super-fast turnaround considering the platform has only been available for a few weeks. Normally all the devices with stock Android (Nexus, Google Play Edition, etc.) get the build first and OEM's usually take a couple of months.Clearly, working with Google on the Nexus 5X has had its benefits for LG as the company has obviously been working with Marshmallow closely and did not have to do much to port if to the flagship. The company confirmed as much when Chris Yie, vice president and head of marketing communications for LG Mobile Communications Company said.
By working closely with Google, LG has been able to bring Android 6.0 to the G4 ahead of any of our competitors. While speed alone isn't an indicator of great service, it does go a long way toward giving consumers the confidence that LG is committed to its existing customers first.
