Xiaomi has scheduled a media event for October 19th, when the company will unveil a new smartphone. First reports suggested that the handset to be launched is the Xiaomi Mi 5 flagship, a handset that is actually a long time in coming. However, the wait will go on as the Mi 5 will not be launched next week at all and there are two reasons for that. One of those reasons is undisputed fact, while the other is just a logical conclusion, we'll start with the former. Company co-founder Lin Bin said that the Oct 19 event will not be to launch the Mi 5, pretty definitive proof we think. He also said the company is not launching a sequel to the Mi Note 2 and will not be launching a smartwatch, laptop, or a TV. That leaves another smartphone or a tablet, we will wait to see which it will be. As it turned out, we already knew that Xiaomi wouldn?t be unloading its new flagship on the world last week as it has already been well reported that the company is waiting for the launch of the Snapdragon 820 processor. That is Qualcomm's next flagship silicon that will not land until January 2016, so we guess we will wait for then to see Xiaomi's Mi 5... by then the Mi 4 will be around 18 months old.
