A OnePlus executive has confirmed that the company's next smartphone will be a mid-range device, which had earlier been promised by co-founder Carl Pei. The new device could be the OnePlus 2 Mini or come with some other name, but it is known to be a design oriented smartphone with mid-range specs and an affordable price.OnePlus India GM Vikas Agarwal said that the handset will be launched before the close of this year and that it will cost between $200 and $300. The OnePlus 2 Mini is also being targeted for mid-range markets, especially India where OnePlus has enjoyed success, with 40% of all its sales this year coming from the subcontinent.
All we know about the OnePlus Mini 2 is that it may not be called that and that it was confirmed earlier in the year by company co-founder Carl Pei as a design oriented smartphone. However, a new benchmark result shows that OnePlus has not eschewed quality specs as it seems the OnePlus 2 Mini is a potent performer. The device passed through the AnTuTu benchmark software and revealed that it comes with a Full HD display, likely to be around 5-inch. Other specs include an octa-core MediaTek MT6795T processor, clocked at 2.2GHz, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, micro SD card support, and a 13 megapixel main camera. That makes the OnePlus Mini a solid mid-range device and we expect it to come with a classy design (per Pei's promise) and probably be something of a bargain to boot.
