We remember back in the good old days of feature phones when many companies we now admire so much were not really big names at all. LG, Apple, and even Samsung had little market presence, while the likes of HTC were finding their feet and the likes of Xiaomi and Maize did not even exist. This was a mobile market dominated by Nokia, but there was also a company called Siemens, and it was among the biggest mobile companies in the world. How times do change. The smartphone arrived and Siemens was one of the companies caught in the transition, sales slumped and the brand pulled itself out of the mobile market. However, Siemens? wider operations continued and now the company is ready to make its comeback in the smartphone world. It's obvious that the old Siemens is effectively entering the market as a new company, with a brand that holds no cache with younger people, while nostalgia is certainly not enough to draw in older consumers. Not that it really matters, because from the fiery ashes of former Siemens we now have Gigaset. So, Siemens will be coming back, well sort of. Back in 2008 Siemens sold its mobile division to focus on other areas, such as wind turbines. Gig set bought the mobile brand and has been quiet ever since, but now the company has a smartphone in the works, at least according to an AnTuTu benchmark score. The Gigaset smartphone has trained its crosshairs firmly on the high end market judging by its specs. The device comes with a 1080p Full HD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, a 16 megapixel rear camera, 8 megapixel front facing lens, and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
