We are almost certainly going to see more smartphone tie ins with media such as music, movies, games, and TV. The reverse (i.e. product placements) has been common in those mediums for some time, but increasingly we are seeing themed special edition handsets, like the recent Samsung Galaxy S6 with Avengers colors. The latest such product is the Sony Xperia J1 Compact: The Phantom Pain.The Phantom Pain (in case you don't) know is the latest edition of the Metal Gear franchise, the second instalment of Metal Gear V in fact. The franchise is one of the most beloved in gaming and now Sony has teamed up with the developer Konami on the new variant of the Xperia J1 Compact. Featuring an Outer Heaven logo, which is the symbol of the base used by the game?s protagonist Big Boss, while there is also a grey colorway. As for the specs, there will be a 4.3-inch 720p screen, a 2.2GHz octa-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of native storage, a micro SD card slot, a 20.7 megapixel primary camera, and a 2.2 megapixel front facing lens. The handset will cost the same as $480 when it arrives as a Japanese exclusive.
