Earlier in the week we told you about a new Samsung series that was due for launch later in the year, the Galaxy O range. There has been speculation as to where the new handsets would fit into Samsung's portfolio, after-all the company has a lot of smartphones at various different price points. A new report now suggests that the Galaxy O will be a virtual reality oriented smartphone created in conjunction with Oculus Rift... So, Galaxy Oculus then?Gene Munster, an analyst with Piper Jaffrey makes this claim and thinks the Galaxy O will make its debut at Oculus' Connect2 event in Hollywood between September 23rd and September 25th. If not, Munster says the companies will roll out a new VR headset, although we are not on this front as Samsung already as its own Galaxy VR headset available.
We believe Oculus in combination with Samsung could either launch a new phone series for VR as they are rumored to be releasing the "O Series" or, alternatively (but unlikely), it could be an all in one wireless VR headset. Potential advantages for stepping away from phones to an all in one headset are: custom screens with higher resolution, custom GPU and custom optics."-Gene Munster, analyst, Piper Jaffray
