OnePlus is currently riding a wave of publicity as its OnePlus 2 Flagship Killer has been well received by critics and consumers alike. However, the company has not finished its smartphone output for the year as co-founder Carl Pei discussed with USA Today. The head of OnePlus revealed that a new handset with the company's branding will be landing later in the year, maybe in time for Christmas.Pei would not reveal whether this new device would be higher spec'd than the OnePlus 2 or not, but we think it won't be. We say that because the company has said several times this year that it would launch another device this year, and it would be more focused on design than hardware. In other words, a OnePlus 2 Mini. Pei had good things to say about the new product, saying when he saw a production demo he wanted it to be his daily use smartphone. His mind was soon changed by the OnePlus 2, but regardless he says both devices are very appealing. One of the main criticisms of the OnePlus 2 has been its lack of NFC, and Pei quickly explained that omission by saying, "Very few people are using NFC, so we cut it. It's as simple as that." He predicts that the technology will take off in the next 12 to 18 months and by then OnePlus would have released its next flagship, presumably with NFC. source: USA Today
