Sony is working on a new high end smartphone developing under the codename Lavender, although it is set to be called the Xperia C5 Ultra. The rumoured handset comes with a radical new design for the company with a bezel-less screen to body ratio and will arrive as a sequel to last year's Xperia C4.If the render of the device you see above is indeed the real deal then it is nice to see Sony going in a new aesthetic direction. The company makes good smartphones, but its design has started to get stale, so if the near screen to edge of the Xperia C5 Ultra is true, it is a change we would welcome. As for specs, the device will be solidly spec'd and will slot nicely into the high end of the mid-range price points. There will be a 5.5-inch 1080p display, a 64-bit octa-core chipset from MediaTek, and 2GB of RAM. The original Xperia C4 was a selfie oriented smartphones and the C5 Ultra will be no different, coming with a 13 megapixel front facing lens. Incidentally, that resolution will match the rear primary shooter too. We expect Sony to wait until the IFA expo in Berlin at the start of September to fully launch the Xperia C5 Ultra.
