OnePlus is not the only smartphone company looking to make it big thanks to crowdfunding as a startup company. The OnePlus One has been successful for sure, but there is a new startup in town, Ubik, a startup company now seeking funding for its first smartphone.Ubik's device is called the Uno and has already been designed by the company, with a $200,000 fund now needed for the first units that will make their way to backers in September. The handset will cost $345 normally off contract, but those who back the handset early will be able to get it for an even more affordable $280. On the surface the Ubik Uno checks a lot of boxes and certainly has an appealing design. In terms of specs it boasts a 5.5-inch Full HD 1080p screen, an eight core MediaTek processor, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a micro SD card slot, 20 megapixel rear camera, 8 megapixel front facing lens, a 3100 mAh juicer, and Android 5.1 Lollipop. Not a bad overall package or price, and we hope Ubik can avoid the teething problems that OnePlus has endured from a similar beginning. Do you fancy something different or do you think a device like this is too much of a risk? source: Kickstarter
