A new leaked image has landed online that reportedly shows Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Note 5, the company's latest flagship phablet. The photo follows weeks of leaks, rumor, and speculation around the handset where we have seen design renders, CAD designs, spec leaks, benchmarks, and release date information.Regarding this image, it probably is the Galaxy Note 5 that you are seeing above, although the device is almost certainly in a protective case or is even a test dummy. It is simply too bulky and squared off on the corners, almost to the point of being sharp. In fact the image reminds us of the old Nokia Lumia 800 (image below) and us doubt Samsung is channelling 2012 Nokia for its design inspiration.
SamMobile, one of the most reputed Samsung reporters has claimed the launch date will be August 12th and that the company will launch the Galaxy S6 Edge + at the same time. That's the second solid source to claim that date, with Digitimes also offering the same idea. The company will then roll out the handset to consumers on August 21st. Traditionally Samsung has launched its Note series during the IFA trade show in Berlin during early September, but this year the company wants to get in early to give the Note time before Apple's new iPhone lands. Cupertino will launch the iPhone 6s mid-September and last year the arrival of the iPhone 6 and especially the iPhone 6 Plus really harmed the Galaxy Note 4, or Samsung apparently perceives. The latest reports suggest that the Note 5 will be comfortably the thinnest in the range so far, continuing Samsung's recent trend of releasing slim smartphones. The best phablet on the market will also get a USB Type-C, meaning the device will come without the side loading current USB. A Type-C port works much like Apple?s Lightning Port and lets the user plug in the USB on both sides. The new connector port also allows blazing 4K video streaming and can charge batteries quicker. The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will also come with a UFS 2.0 internal storage, making the flash memory quicker, just like we had in the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. Ex Samsung employers have said that the rumoured specs for the Note 5 are accurate, including a 5.9-inch Quad HD AMOLED, a 7.9mm body, 4100mAh battery, and Android Lollipop on board.
