Samsung UK dropped the bomb that we guessed was coming but hoped wouldn't and confirmed that the aging Galaxy Note 2 or the Galaxy Note 3 will be getting Android Lollipop updates. This only cements what we had previously been told when Samsung Gulf claimed its Galaxy Note 2 variant would remain on Android 4.4 KitKat.However, it seems that Samsung is leaving it up to specific regions to decide what to do as Samsung Finland and Samsung Poland have said their Note 2's will be getting Lollipop, unless those regions spoke too soon. On paper there is no reason why either handset cannot rock Android 5.0, it just seems as though as both fall well outside their two year support cycle that Samsung is simply moving on. The Galaxy S3 was the device that nailed Samsung to the top of the market and elevated the company to be able to compete with Apple. The Note 2 refined the concept they created for large screen smartphone and the device ushered in the phablet as a viable handset product.
