HTC has been decking its smartphone portfolio out with high end devices, including the One M9 flagship. However, stocks are plummeting and the M9 is tanking on sales charts, leading to plenty of worry within the company. With that mind, HTC needs to deliver some device that capture the imagination, as the One M7 and to some extent the One M8 did.The company's CEO, Cher Wang, apologized for the sticky situation the company finds itself in (the worst April in the company's history) and confirmed that HTC will be launching a "hero" device in October. He did not elaborate, but the suggestion is that the handset will sit alongside or just under the M9 and not replace it, although hopefully HTC will make it an interesting device. As for the One M9 replacement, Wang said that the device will be designed from the ground up, which could lead to something special because when HTC turns it on the company is impressive. The CEO also added that the company is working on a "new series" of smartphones that will be launched before the end of the year.
