The Galaxy Note 5 is the next major smartphone on the horizon for Samsung, and if we're being honest it is always the device we look forward to the most from the company, even over the Galaxy S flagship range. There have been rumors circulating over the last week that the Korean company will launch the Galaxy Note 5 early in an attempt to beat the iPhone 6s Plus to market. As it turns out though, it really was just a rumour.Despite the iPhone 6 Plus destroying the Galaxy Note 4 in terms of sales last year (and indeed so far this year), Samsung is not quite as worried about Apple as some would believe. The company's Mobile president, J.K. Shin was emphatic in saying that the Galaxy Note 5 will not arrive earlier than it usually does. The usual time for launch is during the IFA event in Berlin during September, with a roll out a month later. Shin says it will be business as usual this year. Shin was in the mood to put out fires as he also said reports that the Galaxy S6/S6 Edge had reached 10 million sales slower than its predecessors was false, although he did not go into details. We can certainly see why Samsung would consider bringing the Note 5 to the market early, we don't think it is necessary. For us, the Galaxy Note 4 is better than the iPhone 6 Plus (there, we said it), so Samsung should concentrate on showing consumers how its device is the king of phablets.
