The Motorola/Verizon DROID Turbo may be having battery problems, as we reported yesterday, but we still think it's a stellar smartphone. One of the best in the mid-range category in fact and while we reported the battery drain issue because... well, it's what we do, we are confident that Motorola and Big Red will get it sorted out quickly with an update. So, for our money the DROID Turbo remains one of the most enticing smartphones out there, although we have often thought the design lets it down.Don't get us wrong, the Turbo looks good, imposing and bruising with its Kevlar like finish, but it is also a bit "fugly" next to other high enders. Verizon and Motorola are trying to address that a little with some new metallic color limited edition variants of the DROID Turbo. The handsets in question will come in metallic blue, metallic orange, and metallic violet and considering the top line specs the DROID Turbo remains decently affordable device. Verizon will launch the new limited editions on May 28, available for $99 on contract, $499.99 upfront, or $20.83 per month over two years with Big Red's Verizon Edge program.
