The BlackBerry Leap is BlackBerry's latest smartphone, an affordable entry into the Canadian company?s portfolio. It was launched to bring the best of BlackBerry in a budget package, including BB 10.3.1 software it is a touchscreen alternative to the company's QWERTY packing smartphones. The Leap has been available in the US for some time, but it is now making its debut in India, going on sale in the country early next week.It has not been announced which retailers will offer the BlackBerry Leap, or how much it will cost in India. We imagine it will be similar to the $275 cost of the handset in the United States through Amazon and Blackberry. No, this is not the new high end BlackBerry touchscreen device we all want to see, but it is still interesting. The Leap comes with a 5-inch screen packing 720p resolution, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of on-board storage, a micro SD card slot, a 2800 mAh battery, an 8 megapixel rear camera, and a 2 megapixel front shooter. All fairly good stuff for a humbly priced phone, although we would have liked to see something above the aging 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor. Running the show will be BlackBerry 10.3.1, the company?s latest version of its UI.
