Android is the top smartphone (and indeed tablet) operating system in the world in terms of market share. Like Apple's iOS App Store, the Google Play Store offers a dizzying array of applications and games, giving users huge choice and enhancing their experience. However, there are actually alternatives, or should we say potent accompaniments to the Google Play Store, and the Amazon Appstore is the chief example. What does the Amazon Appstore have that the Google Play Store does not? Well, in terms of specific apps nothing, in fact there significantly less apps on Amazon's offerings than Android's and there are zero exclusives. However, the Appstore is downloadable for BlackBerry users, bringing a large amount of top Android apps to BB's smartphones. However, it is also well worth downloading for Android users because Amazon has fantastic offers on a regular basis. The online retail giant offers a huge amount of sales and app giveaways through the year, more often than not offering more than $100 worth of apps for absolutely nothing. These app sales happen a lot and while we would never suggest it being a full-time replacement for the Google Play Store (which you cannot delete anyway), but Amazon's Appstore is a great sidekick to have around to take advantage of those sales and freebies. It is also worth noting that the Appstore also has daily deals where premium apps and games receive slashed prices. Unfortunately, you can?t find the Amazon Appstore by simply heading to the Google Play Store and downloading the front end app. However, getting it on your Android device is not hard at all, and here?s how you do it:
Step 1: By default your Android smartphone may be set to not accept third party app downloads, so you will need to change that. You can turn this setting off by heading to Settings > General > Security and then find the tab called "Unkown Sources" and check it. Step 2: To find the actual Appstore you need to head to Amazon's page, http://www.amazon.com/gp/mas/get-appstore/android/ref=mas_rw_ldg and here you click the big yellow download button in the center of the page. Step 3: Downloading directly to your smartphone, when the file is prepped and pulled in tap the download .apk button in the notifications panel, and follow the steps on the app installer. Step 4: All done! Now you just need to fire up the app, sign into your Amazon account if you have one or sign up for one if not. And away you go, now able to download those sale apps.
