HTC's recently launched One M9 flagship divided opinion, an extremely good handset for sure, but perhaps too close to the One M8 for comfort. In terms of some of the other flagships currently finding their way to the market, one could even argue that the One M9 is a little undercut in terms of specs and HTC could have gone one step further.Well, the company is apparently going to do just that on April the 8th. The Taiwanese giant has scheduled a press event and it seems to be in place for the company to launch the HTC One M9 Plus. This is a much rumored smartphone that will crank up the specs of the One M9 to give HTC a bona-fide top shelf smartphone. The One M9 Plus will boast the company's first ever Quad HD, although the Butterfly 3 could beat that depending on when it launches. Other specs will include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810, although HTC could opt to include a MediaTek chipset instead. The launch will be taking place in Beijing, which suggests that HTC is targeting the Chinese market with the One M9 Plus. Hopefully that does not mean the handset will remain a Chinese exclusive, although we imagine it will be as the launch is simply too close to that of the One M9 for this to be a device that will roll out globally. Here's to hoping we are wrong.
