AT&T started rolling out Android 5.0 Lollipop to the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, the newer versions that removes "Interruptions" too. While it is fully expected that Samsung's newest phablet flagship is getting the latest version of Android, the fact the Galaxy Note 3 is also receiving Lollipop today is a little more surprising.
The handset is over a year old and it was obviously going to get Android Lollipop on AT&T at some point some international version already have it. However, AT&T has decided to update the last two Galaxy Note smartphones at once. The update for the Galaxy Note 3 is hefty, weighing in at 1GB; which means you should definitely use a Wi-Fi connection and make sure your battery is just about fully juiced up. AT&T has confirmed the update but said some consumer may not be seeing the OTA patch right away. Android 5.0 Lollipop brings Material Design and a host of other new features, while AT&T has also added some changes of its own. Software Update Includes Android 5.0 Lollipop Highlights Songs, photos, apps, and even recent searches from one Android device can be immediately enjoyed across all of your Android devices. New User Interface look and feel, more fluid motions Priority mode to only allow certain notifications to get through Battery saving features and remaining time left to charge or deplete indicators Smart Lock to secure phone or tablet by pairing it with a trusted device like a wearable or car Most frequently used settings available with just two swipes down from the top screen Device initiated update Notification - AT&T software update: The AT&T software update message reads: A new software update from AT&T is available for your device. This software update will take several minutes and will not delete any personal data on your device. All phone services (including emergency calls) will be suspended during the install. The installation will begin in 30 seconds. The device starts downloading the software update. The device automatically restarts once the new software has successfully downloaded. Status message: The software has been successfully installed. Your device is now ready to use. Tap OK. User initiated update Go to Settings > General tab > About device > Software updates > Check for updates > follow remaining prompts. Verifying the Update From the home screen, select Menu or pull down the notification shade. Select Settings > General > About device. If the software version matches new specifications the device has the latest firmware.
