Sony has been reportedly thinking of selling its smartphone division. The company has been rumored to be doing just that since last year, and the rumor resurfaced at the start of this year. Sony has never really spoken about it, but it has been clear for some time that the company's mobile output is struggling. Finally the Japanese company has spoken on the subject, but the message seems to be mixed.CEO Kazuo Hirai said that it was impossible to rule out an exit strategy for the Xperia brand, but Tim Harrison, Sony's Vice President of Global Communications said that the CEO was just keeping all options open. "Look, we're a grown-up company, so we've got to leave all our options open... He was not saying, at all 'we are up for sale'. Categorically, we are not up for sale."
