Apple is riding the crest of another huge wave with the announcements that the iPhone sold 73.4 million iPhones and recorded the best ever quarterly profit in business history. According to Cupertino CEO Tim Cook, the huge success of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus did not come from Apple fans, but instead came from Android users.

Speaking to the Wall Street Journal, Cook claimed that fewer 15% of those who bought the new smartphones were upgrading from a previous iPhone model. He says instead that many of them in fact came from Android.

"We certainly believe there are legs to it," said Cook in regards to the enormous surge in iPhone sales over the past few months.
