In terms of the amount of app downloads, Google Play is well out in front, dominating Apple's App Store by a significant amount. That's hardly a major surprise considering Android is way and ahead as the most used mobile platform in the world. However, when it comes to making money, Apple's store is still the one to beat, and by a lot too.Research from App Annie found that 2014 was a massive year for the App Store, with Apple's app front making 40% last year ($10 billion overall) of the money it made in all years from 2008 to 2013. Key markets remain Apple's domain, such as United States, Europe, Japan, and South Korea, while the App Store generates over 60% more money that Google Play. source: App Annie
