Simply put, no other smartphone company has ever put together the kind of earnings call that Apple offered last night. Cupertino sold 74 million iPhones and raked in $18 billion in profit, selling more devices, at a higher cost, and for more money. However, it was not just a record breaking quarter for the tech industry, it was the best quarter in business... ever. That is remarkable considering this is very much an oil based global economy. Take a look at the top 20 best quarters ever and 15 of the places are taken up by oil companies, but Apple has previous is joining the party. The only company to appear in the top 20 that is not involved in oil is apple, taking spots 5, 6, 7, and 9. Oh, Cupertino can also lay claim to first place now too. The company surpassed the previous best quarter that was recorded by Russian oil giant Gazprom, with Apple surpassing that $16 billion total by a cool $2 billion.
