Xiaomi's new Mi Note Pro launched yesterday gave the company one of the very best smartphones currently available. There?s nothing surprising there because the company has made huge strides in the industry, is now in the top four biggest smartphone manufacturers in the world, and has a portfolio to rival most companies. As a result, Xiaomi is now ready to take the next step according to founder CEO Lei Jun. The company has long been accused of standing on the shoulders of other companies and outright copying some. However, Jun says that Xiaomi is a "world leading innovator" and will be expanding its patent portfolios with maybe 1000s of new patents per year. Many smartphone companies have large patent portfolios, and they are among the most important parts of their business. Xiaomi, founded in 2010, is looking to catch up quickly and become one of the main innovators in the industry.
