The success of Xiaomi has not just hit Samsung hard, other Chinese companies such as ZTE, Huawei, and Lenovo have been affected by the company's rise. Lenovo is attempting to hit back with a well spec'd smartphone that is ultra-affordable, the Lenovo K3 "Music Lemon". Weird name aside, the device is available in China right now and turns out to be a bit of a bargain at around $96 (599 CNY).The new handset arrives as a competitor to Xiaomi's Redmi 1S, but this Lenovo device seems more appealing with a 5-inch 720p IPS screen, quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon clocked at 1.2GHz, 1GB of RAM, LTE connectivity, 8 MP rear camera, 2 MP front-facing camera, Waves MaxxAudio sound. 16GB of internal storage, expandable storage through micro SD, a 2300 mAh battery, Android 4.4 KitKat, and a 7.9mm thick body. Oh, it's yellow too, hence the lemon we presume. Lenovo is playing another Xiaomi trick by only making this device available online, via an exclusive deal with JD, one of China's biggest retailers. The K3 may even arrive in other markets, but we doubt a roll out in mature regions like North America or Europe will happen. That said, this is a very solid piece of kit for under $100 and we would love to see it in the US.
