HTC is of course preparing to update its current One M8 smartphone flagship with the M9, a device that will land during the early months of 2015. The handset is already deep into development and that means one thing this early in the game... leaks. There are now reports coming from China and other Asian regions about the specs for the One M9.The HTC One range is about to make a sizeable jump in specs, with the M9 set to arrive with the latest and greatest of this generations' hardware. That includes a Quad HD panel that offers 2560 x 1440 resolution and will be the biggest One screen yet at 5.5 inches. Other specs include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 with 3GB, but we will be intrigued to see if HTC can squeeze the Snapdragon 810 into the device, but an 805 seems more likely. Elsewhere there will a 3500mAh juicer, while the body will once again be metal (and probably gorgeous), this time crafted from an aluminum silicon-carbide. There are some big changes afoot in the camera department with HTC seemingly waving goodbye to the UltraPixel 4MP lens that has sat on the rear of previous One models. The One M9 will get a 16 megapixel rear shooter with OIS and inevitably the EYE Experience software. HTC is no longer in bed with Beats (that's for another mobile company) so has a new partner in the form of audio king Bose, so we expect the BoomSound front stereo speakers to be off the charts good. As one of the few who is not entirely fond of the M8 (the original One M7 remains the better option in my humble opinion), I am interested to see if HTC can knock this one out of the park. Those specs suggest yet, but with this range so much of its appeal is based on looks, so let's wait for those inevitable leaked images. The HTC One M9 is due to launch during the first quarter of 2015, and we will probably at least hear something about it at the Mobile World Conference (MWC) in Barcelona between March 2-5.
