Hardly a bit of showbiz news here as Blackberry issued a press release today introducing us to its new executive. Ladies and gentlemen meet Howard Stevens, a 20 year veteran of telecom industry sales who has now become Senior Vice President of Global Carrier Sales. Sexy stuff we know, who needs new smartphone announcements when you have that!Joking aside, Blackberry CEO John Chen said that bringing in Stevens would help the company sell more units of its Passport and Classic handsets as he will get them on the rosters of more carriers. He will be tasked with developing new marketing ideas to shift more smartphones, while he will also need to prepare devices for enterprise software and purchase value-added services.
BlackBerry is in the midst of executing on a strong product roadmap with well-received offerings - from BES12 and BBM Protected to BlackBerry Passport and, very soon, BlackBerry Classic. Under Howard Stevens- leadership, we will work more closely with our carrier partners to put these innovative products into the hands of more customers and position BlackBerry for faster growth." -John Chen, CEO, BlackBerry
